PROS
Non-shedding
Hypoallergenic (*no dog is 100% allergy reaction free, Bouv's are one of the many breeds that are extremely low on the scale and have little to no reaction by those typically allergic to dogs)
Intelligent, there isn't anything a Bouv can't learn. If you are looking for a dog to work, or sport with you really should consider a Bouv
Good with kids, Bouvs love their families... especially the little ones, there isn't much a Bouv loves more then romping in the yard with their children.
Good family guard dog, watching TV (a must for Bouvs), playing in the yard, hiking, car rides.. Bouvs love it all, they want to be where their "people" are
ndependent thinker, Bovs are great problem solvers, this can make many training tasks quick for them to learn as they are able to process the pro's and con's very quickly.
Beautiful, what can we say.... gotta love that face!
Loyal, the love a Bouv gives their "people" is from deep in their hearts, and lasts a life time. Once you have been given the gift of Bouv loyalty there is no looking back!
Strong, these dogs can handle very physical activities, they can hike, swim, herd, run, ... just about anything you throw their way they can do with little wear down.

CONS
Coat can mat, we highly recommend regular visits to your groomer, and weekly brushing sessions
Requires substantial grooming, it is very important that prospective families really weigh out the long term cost of life long grooming visits.
Requires early socialization, Bouvs love their families and can be "weary" of strangers (a highly sought after trait for the breed), but young and early socialization is a MUST for a well rounded Bouv with todays expectations of dog etiquette out in public. And early socialized Bouv, is a happy Bouv.
Requires obedience training, because of how intelligent a Bouv is, if that isn't channeled in a highly constructive way... like with any dog bad habits can become routine. Bouvs LOVE to be challenged mentally and being an active part in REGULAR training exercise isn't just what is best for your family, but what is best for your Bouvs emotional well being.
Independent thinker, See above!
Strong, Being a herding breed, being strong and LOVING kids, may sound like a great thing, and most of the time it is... but these guys are TANKS on four paws, kids can get bowled over, pulled down on a leash, or just pushed out of the way. Small kids that aren't up for the challenge, homes with kiddos that are timid around bigger dogs, and homes that think they won't be able to manage a physically and mentally STRONG dog might not be the best fit for a Bouv.
Everything and Anything sticks to their coats, and we mean EVERYTHING! Its Washington folks, and yes come fall most of what is in the yard, will now come back into the house! They might just be part Velcro!
Requires daily exercise, Bouvs need physical exercise to keep them psychically fit, keep bad behavior to a minimum, and to keep them in top physical form. Daily walks and constructive yard play (no dog exercises itself in the yard with out direction), is a must for any Bouv.....Rains, Snow, Sleet or Shine!
They're Not Called DIRTY BEARDS For Nothing.... your pants and the front of your sofa won't even
know what hit it!
